This e-compilation of articles from the AMWA Journal presents writings on the topic of authorship in professional medical writing. Divided into four sections, the Compilation begins with the AMWA Position Statement and includes four related articles on what constitutes authorship, and the medical writers’ role in promoting ethical publication practices. The following three sections include responses from AMWA members to articles on the topic of “ghostwriting,” an article on Authorship and Writing Practices in the Health Care Industry, and case studies designed to aid medical writers determine when and how their contributions to journal articles and other medical writing projects should be acknowledged.
